The WUST Library, in cooperation with ProQuest (a part of Clarivate), has prepared new terms for depositing doctoral dissertations in digital libraries.

Authors now have the opportunity to deposit their doctoral dissertations in two online resources:
1. Lower Silesian Digital Library (DBC) – open access
2. ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global – paid access for readers – the database is subscribed to by the WUST Library.

Authors who previously granted a license to the Lower Silesian Digital Library can now grant an extended license that also includes the ProQuest database.

Conditions for Depositing Dissertations
Dissertations eligible for deposition must be authored by individuals affiliated with the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and written in conference languages (including English, French), as well as in Polish or German. A necessary condition is the inclusion of the dissertation title, keywords, and abstract in English, if they are not already part of the dissertation.

Benefits for the Author
1. Granting a license incurs no costs for the author.
2. The dissertation will receive an ISBN number from ProQuest.
3. Increased visibility of the work through inclusion in international databases and citation indexes.
4. Indexing of the work in one of the largest full-text databases containing over 3.5 million dissertations: ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global.
5. ProQuest LLC is part of Clarivate, a global information and communications technology company that creates, among other things, index databases, including Web of Science. Recently, the Web of Science platform expanded its citation indexes to include the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Citation Index.
6. Access to the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global database is paid for subscribers, but the presence of the dissertation in DBC allows researchers interested in access (e.g., through Web of Science) to obtain it for free via DBC.
7. The author can earn optional royalties based on the usage or prints of their work from the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global database - detailed information is in the attached license.

Terms of Granting the License
Granting consent is voluntary and gradable, and the license is non-exclusive. If the decision is positive and includes both of the above databases, it is necessary to consent to the transfer of the author's personal data outside the European Economic Area. To do this, please check the consents in points A, B, and C on pages 1-2 and sign on page 2 of the attached active form.

How to Submit the License and Dissertation?
The signed paper license can be submitted to the Branch Library at your faculty or any building where the WUST Library operates (including A-1 and D-21). The dissertation file can be sent to DBC at: bc[at]pwr.edu.pl
