Abstrakt:

The paper presents fundamental efficiency conditions and development prospects of virtual organizations. Analyzed conditions include: level of coordination, pace of value chain disintegration, type and accessibility of resources and competences. Although it is quite certain that the process of virtualization of business units will continue, it is difficult to indicate the direction of evolution of the concept as well as its role in the management theory.
