 abstract={The paper concerns the competitiveness of Polish food producers in the Common European market as well as on the world market. In the case of most products of agriculture and food industry cost-price advantages were crucial factors causing the increase of their competitiveness. However the influence of qualitative factors of competitiveness, including widely considered product, technology and organisational innovativeness, was also pointed out. The paper presents also a development of innovative activities in food industry and in selected companies of the sector. The development have undergone in line with the sector's adjustment to the market economy.},
